INRAE-ENVT France
INRAE-ENVT co-leads the work on legislation (WP2) and pilot studies (WP3), bringing strong expertise in field epidemiology and livestock production systems. The team will analyse regulatory frameworks, identify barriers and opportunities for improved biosecurity, and collaborate closely with farmers and sector organisations in France. INRAE-ENVT will also help refine the biosecurity framework through real-world implementation and contribute to the generation of policy recommendations and communication materials.
Tasks: Legislative analysis, pilot studies, farmer engagement
Leads: Prof. Mathilde Paul & Dr Mattias Delpont
Role: Co-lead WP2 & WP3
Funders
Mathilde Paul – DVM, MsC, PhD
Professor in Epidemiology and Avian Population Medicine. Her key research interests focus on how farmers’ behaviours and anthropogenic factors can shape the spatio-temporal distribution of infectious diseases such as avian influenza. For doing her research, Mathilde uses a wide range of epidemiological tools including spatial statistics. She maintains strong connections with the field as she most often uses observational studies to analyse farming practices. She enjoys collaborating with social scientists and has been involved in several transdisciplinary projects. Mathilde currently contributes to a large project funded by the French Ministry of Agriculture (1.2 M€) to improve biosecurity compliance on poultry farms. She is leading two transdisciplinary projects investigating the use of antimicrobials in the French poultry sector and keeps collaborating on several projects in Southern countries.
Rebecca Hibbard- DVM, PhD
Rebecca is a veterinarian and epidemiologist, currently working as a post-doctoral researcher. Her research focuses on biosecurity and antimicrobial use, using both quantitative and qualitative approaches to develop a context-based understanding of these practices. She has previously worked for the World Organisation for Animal Health and the epidemiology consulting company Epimundi. She has worked on international projects on biosecurity and has experience in the application of diverse methodological approaches (qualitative research methods, realist evaluation) to answer epidemiological questions.
Mattias Delpont- DVM, PhD, dipl. ECPVS
Researcher and clinician in poultry medicine. He is a veterinarian with activities in research, teaching and diagnostic. He is a diplomate of the European college of poultry veterinary science (ECPVS) and he obtained a PhD in epidemiology. His research focuses on preventive medicine in poultry farms (biosecurity, vaccination, husbandry) and on emerging poultry diseases. His works on biosecurity are based on both quantitative and qualitative approaches, involving interactions with farmers and other stakeholders (veterinarians, advisors, industries or veterinary health services). He has worked on several national and international research and networking projects on biosecurity.
Fabien Corbière- DVM, MSc, PhD
Fabien graduated from the National Veterinary School of Maisons-Alfort (France) in 1999. He then spent 3 years as a Consultation Officer in the Ruminants Hospital of the National Veterinary School of Toulouse (ENVT) where he defended his veterinary thesis in 2002. He holds a master (2014) and a PhD in Epidemiology and Biostatistics (2007) from the INSERM U1212 unit at University Bordeaux 2 – ISPED (France). He specialises in developing and applying statistical models for the estimation of diagnostic test performances.
